Chapter History

The Gamma Zeta Chapter at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi was formed on March 23rd, 1986. Tri Delta was selected out of two other groups to establish a chapter by the panhellenic council and administration. All potential new members were invited to an open house on Friday, March 21, at the Kappa Delta lodge on campus. Collegians from Chi Chapter, The University of Mississippi, sang and talked with the potential new members. Preference invitations were delivered to the potential new members by the panhellenic rush counselors. Collegians from the Phi Epsilon Chapter, The University of Southern Mississippi, conducted the preference program in the home of Vicki Greenlee on Saturday night. Twenty bids were issued and accepted after the party. Pledging was held on Sunday afternoon at the Chi Omega Lodge, and there was much cheering and rejoicing as the new pledges arrived from the panhellenic community. Jackson Alumni provided sponsors for the pledging. The ceremony and campus reception were held in Gamma Zeta’s newly refurbished lodge. The banquet was at the Jackson Country Club. Dr. George Harmon, President of Millsaps College, and the father of one of the initiates welcomed Tri Delta.
